From: Li zhi <oceanlizy at 163.com>To: MITgcm-support at mitgcm.orgSubject: " how to add river runoff in exf"Dear all,

I have used the MITgcm for three years. I setup a model in the East China Sea (in the northwestern Pacific Ocean) driven by the wind speed, air temperature, specific humidity, net short wave radiation, net long wave radiation and precipitation derived from the NCEP-NCAR. In winter, even though no river runoff is included as the driving force, the simulated results

(temperature, salinity, SSH and current) compare well with previous model results. This is due to the runoff flux is small in winter. However, in summer, the runoff flux from the

Changjiang River is very large. Thus, the river runoff is crucial for the simulation of salinity in the East China Sea. Then, the problem arises! Few examples are foundabout how to

add river runoff in the exf package. I have inquired some people around me about this question, but their advice seems not helpful. Could someone give some applicable advice here?

The figure attached below is the model domain and the Changjiang River is labeled.

Thank you so much!

 Li zhi
