I'm not going to apply for either job, but both of these posts
(especially the software engineer one) are the sort where we struggle
to recruit and retain people. Any thoughts you have on such issues
as career structure for such people would be of great interest to
me. Good luck with the recruitment.

Subject: [MITgcm-support] Ocean modelling opportunities in Australia
Hi MITgcm users,
I would like to announce some upcoming opportunities in Australia for scientists with expertise in ocean modelling. It’s likely that we’ll be advertising two positions in the next few months:
- A postdoctoral fellow position, focusing on development, configuration, evaluation and research using high-resolution global ocean-sea ice models; and
- A more technical (software engineer) role to support our development and configuration goals.
The project will be based initially around MOM5, but will graduate to MOM6 in later years.
These advertisements won’t appear until the new year, but if you may be interested in applying for either of these roles (or you know of any potential applicants), please let me know and I will keep you informed of developments.
