[MITgcm-support] adding diagnostics into NetCDF files

Hi Jonny,

the easiest way to get customized output is the diagnostics package. The ptracers.*.nc file is something of the “old” output that you get, when you have dumpFreq set in data&PARM03.

After a model run with debugLevel >= 1 you’ll get a file available_diagnostics.log where your DICPCO2 probably shows up, if you have dic turned on. Then you just put it into an “output stream” defined in data.diagnostics. The diagnostics package needs to be turned on (useDIagnostics = .True. in data.pkg). There are plenty of examples of diagnostics output streams in the verification directory. Also there is some description in the documentation: <http://mitgcm.org/public/r2_manual/latest/online_documents/node264.html>

Currently, I am getting a ptracers.nc output file which contains dic, alk, dop, po4 and o2 and these variables are presumably defined in a list somewhere which I need to add DICPCO2 to?
