[MITgcm-support] External forcing

Dear all,

In order to simulate tidal forcing, I would like to apply time dependent periodic external forcing to MITgcm. So far, I found the option to use (x,y,t)-files. This data only holds for the surface, I assume? It is, however, necessary to apply the tidal forcing to all layers. 

Is it, therefore, possible to apply external forcing datasets, ordered in a (x,y,z,t) fashion?
