Hi Jill,

Fedora Core 2 is *old*.  Why would you even try it?  The current version
is Core 5.  Its entirely possible (likely, even) that you were trying to
"yum install ..." things that simply do not exist for Core 2 but do
exist for Core 5.

Neither!  I'm only trying to suggest that there may be (much!) easier
ways of installing things than your current approach.  In particular,
your approach means you must build a compatible netCDF library if you
want to use netCDF.  With Fedora Core 5 you wouldn't have to build
anything -- it will "all just work" without the fuss.
