Hi Jean-Michel,

I'm fine with any solution that allows me to turn off the MDSIO grid
output when using MNC.  I'm also OK with keeping the current behavior as
the default.

How about a flag named "writegrid_mnc_only" within the /PARM_MNC_L/
common block that defaults to .FALSE. so that:

  1) the default behavior is *exactly* the same as it is now
  2) obviously, it'll only be capable of doing something when MNC
       is turned on

Would that be OK for you?
