Hi Jean-Michel,

Thanks for reverting 1.24 to 1.23.  I think that was the right move.

However, your "apparently without testing it" line is untrue.  I managed
to get a number of integrations and a lot of netCDF output working with
it earlier today with g77 before I did the checkin.  I am now testing it
with the Intel and PGI compilers since they're hitting a bug every time.
