Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to invite you to the CELLO Conference 2025, taking place from September 16–18 in Hamburg, Germany.
Under the motto “Climate Exploration in Lively Liaison with the Ocean,” this conference will bring together experts in ocean turbulence, air-sea-ice interactions, and computational modeling to deepen our understanding of ocean dynamics.

Nearly 50 years ago, under the leadership of Klaus Hasselmann, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology recognized the ocean’s crucial role in the climate system. Since then, advances in computational power and observational techniques have significantly enhanced our ability to observe and simulate ocean dynamics. With CELLO, we aim to gain deeper insights into Earth’s climate and its potential future changes—examining how, where, and to what extent these changes may occur.

We are thrilled to welcome an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers, including David S. Battisti, Nils Brüggemann, Paola Cessi, Raffaele Ferrari, Baylor Fox-Kemper, Eleanor Frajka-Williams, and Jochem Marotzke.

If you plan to join us, please take note of the following key dates:

• Abstract Submission Deadline: March 14, 2025, 12:00 AM CET
• Notification of Decisions: March 24, 2025
• Conference Registration Opens: March 24, 2025

Abstract submission is now open, and we encourage you to submit your work for consideration.

For more details and to submit your abstract, please visit the CELLO Conference website<https://cello-conference.de/frontend/index.php?folder_id=9206&page_id=>.

The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology looks forward to welcoming you to Hamburg!

Best regards,
Your Scientific Committee
Nils Brüggemann
