Hi Martin,

It seems I solved my issue just by specifying the timePhase!

Many thanks ??

Sandy

If you use the diagnostics pkg and specify snapshot every 5 seconds, then these will be, by default, in the middle of the 5s interval. Your timestep prevents that (can’t reach 2.5), so it uses the closest. If you want out put at 5s,10s, etc. you need to specify the timePhase = 0., or 5.,

I have no idea why it sometime goes wrong. Maybe the rounding sometimes implies .4 and sometimes .6 as the neares to .5?

Hi everyone,

I am running some experiments with the MITgcm. It was working fine until I increase my resolution and decrease my timestep (0.2s). I save my diagnostics as snap-shot every 5 seconds. When I look at my output, I have snap-shots filled with NaN. I checked my time output and I find some inconsistencies. While I still have output every 5 s, I have, at some times, output at 0.2s. It happens at around 1 min and around 17 min of my simulation, then after that, all my output are correct (I run my simulation 60 min). In total, I have more output than I should have (due to this strange output at 0.2s). Here are my first time output (in bold red are the output at 0.2s):

Do you have any idea about what is going on? Also I was wondering, as a naïve question, why the first output is at 2.4s?

Many thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Sandy
