[MITgcm-support] Mathematics of the CS Curvilinear Grid System

Hi All:

I have a question about the cubed sphere curvilinear grid system
with respect to the Navier Stokes equation.

Reading up on Nair et. al (2005) regarding the Galerkin scheme and
the cubed sphere model, I can't help but notice that it does not include
the vertical velocity component in the Navier Stokes Equation.

Is there a paper the fully describes the Cubed sphere formulation in 3D
and its respective governing equations?

Also, how does MITgcm numerically solve the governing equations
given an orthogonal cubed sphere coordinate system?
