Hi GCM users,
Is it possible to use the FLT package in combination with the OffLine package? That is, advecting synthetic Lagrangian floats using prescribed velocity fields.
Actually I've tried to setup such a test and results show that the OffLine works well (it drives a ptracer to evolve reasonably well) but the FLT output trajectory file only has the header record.
I guess two things may cause this. One is that the initial position input file (flt_ini_pos.bin) for deploying synthetic floats is not right. The only reference is the flt_ini_pos.bin in the verification flt_example. However, there seems no obvious inconsistencies between my input file and that example file. The other may be that the FLT package cannot work with OffLine. That is the FLT is an online-only package. But I am not sure.
Below is the STDOUT segment for reading flt_ini_pos.bin if something were obviously wrong:
(PID.TID 0000.0001) FLT_INIT_VARIA: reading Floats from: flt_ini_pos.bin
(PID.TID 0000.0001) MDS_READVEC_LOC: open file: flt_init_pos.dat
(PID.TID 0000.0001) bi,bj= 0 0 , npart,max_npart= 4.18359375E+00 0.00000000E+00
(PID.TID 0000.0001) FLT_INIT_VARIA: max npart= 0 , sum npart_tile= 0
Can anyone give some suggestions? Many thanks.
