[MITgcm-support] OAD:TIMING meaning

Hello

I am using an OAD-compiled version of MITgcm and am curious about the
meaning of the OAD:TIMING messages sent to the terminal. Specifically, the
one dealing with a ratio:

OAD: TIMING: ratio stamps (2-1)/(1-0):
1.726128e+09/8.896497e+08=1.940233e+00

Does the final value here mean that the adjoint takes twice as long as the
forward model? (or that the adjoint+forward take twice as long as the
forward alone, maybe?)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Dan
