[MITgcm-support] A problem on "login aborted: connect to mitgcm.org: 2401 failed

confirmed that there is some issue, as when i attempted a login:

[mach:~] me% setenv CVSROOT ':pserver:cvsanon at mitgcm.org:/u/gcmpack'
[machr:~] me% cvs login
Logging in to :pserver:cvsanon at mitgcm.org:2401/u/gcmpack
CVS password: 

after typing in the password at the prompt, the emitted response is simply a line return.
