Hi guys,

See below - I thought I should send this to the support as well.

Thanks,

Neill.

Subject: Variable Kh in MITgcm

Hi Matt,

How are things?

It’s been suggested to me that it might be possible to input a spatially variable horizontal diffusivity into the offline MITgcm in a similar way as I have been doing for the vertical diffusivity. This would be really useful as it seems
that the horizontal diffusion ought perhaps to be higher in Drake Passage than in the Pacific. However, a quick search of the e-mail archives suggests that this was not possible in 2010:

Do you know if this is still the case, or by any chance has a means of specifying variable Kh been implemented?

Cheers,

Neill.
