[MITgcm-support] about the Matlab scripts for data preprocessing

Hi everyone,
Recently I am using the MATLAB scripts downloaded from http://www.ecco.ucsd.edu/mitgcmuv/mit_data.html for data preprocessing. When using levit.m for interpolating climatological potential temperature and salinity data onto model grids, I find that both variables are given zeros where values of mask are zeros. I doubt that whether zeros for potential temperature on grid points on land are appropriate as there are oceanic grid points where the potential temperature is zero. Therefore I want to give another value, for example, -99 to grid points on land. However actually I don't know how the potential temperature data are exactly used during the model run so I am not sure whether another value for land instead of zero is appropriate. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Jack
