Dmitri, I made some modifications recently to pkg/exf treatment of runoff. 
there was a brief period, where checked in code would not have worked properly 
on all compilers (thanks to Martin and Patrick for pointing out bugs) but as far 
as I know runoff interpolation is working fine now.

Are you running with a reasonably recent version of MITgcm code and could you 
send me a copy of your data.exf file.
