Hi Michael,

I don't know what happened.  But heres some quick commands that might be
helpful:

  cd /some/dir  <=- where /some/dir is initially empty
  cvs co MITgcm
  ...do a bunch of stuff and then weeks later...
  cd /some/dir/MITgcm
  cvs -q up -d

and then deal with any conflicts that might have happened (that is,
local edits you made that conflict with changes made to the repository).
