Hi Michael,

Glad you got it to build!

Also, if you aren't already, you probably want to use one of the
"optfiles" such as:

  $ genmake -mods=../code -of=OPTFILE  ...more options...

where OPTFILE can be any of the files in:

  MITgcm/tools/build_options/linux_ia32_g77
  MITgcm/tools/build_options/linux_ia32_ifort
  MITgcm/tools/build_options/linux_ia32_pgf77
  ...etc...

since they set certain important DEFINEs and compiler directives such
as:

  FFLAGS='-byteswapio ...'

which may fix the byte-swap problem that Patrick pointed out in his
email.  If you have any problems using those optfiles, please send the
errors to this list and I'll do what I can to help.
