[MITgcm-support] RE: /u/u3 permissions from auden

Ed + TS,

FYI, and not that I know how to fix it....

localhost$ CVSROOT=:pserver:cvsanon at chaucer.lcs.mit.edu:/u/gcmpack
localhost$ cvs login
Logging in to :pserver:cvsanon at chaucer.lcs.mit.edu:2401/u/gcmpack
CVS password:   (cvsanon)
/u/gcmpack: no such repository

Nor do any of these work:
CVSROOT=:pserver:cvsanon at chaucer.lcs.mit.edu:/u/u3/gcmpack
CVSROOT=:pserver:cvsanon at chaucer.lcs.mit.edu:/usr/local/gcmpack

And yet this does work:
CVSROOT=:pserver:cvsanon at chaucer.lcs.mit.edu:/u/u0/gcmpack

All these symbolic links look OK from chaucer itself.

The problem is that in chaucer:/etc/xinit.d/cvspserver there is the line:
        server_args             = --allow-root=/u/u0/gcmpack pserver
That is stopping all these symbolic links from working.

Is it possible to allow multiple "--allow-root"'s? I can't find the
documentation for pserver.

A.

Subject: Re: /u/u3 permissions from auden

alistair,

the problem exists because auden:/usr/local currently
lives on /u/u3/local, and this is causing an overlap
between /u/u3 && /u/u3/local. the fix is to purchase
another sca-disk to replace the old /usr/local, and
this will clear up the problems exporting different
bits of /u/u3.

ed and chris were able to workaround this by moving
/u/u3/gcmpack to /u/u3/local/gcmpack which is available
across the authors network, and symlinking accordingly.

i thought this was a good interim fix, but i could be
wrong?
