Yu-heng,

Data doesn't need to be "pre-processed" to be read by the model.
Input data should be in big-endian real*4 or real*8 format
in direct-access files. Some examples of generating such input are
given in matlab scripts (gendata.m) in the various verification
directories.

The pre-process software referred to in the documentation concerns
interpolating specific global data sets for use in the global model.
