One place we could implement this is in
MITgcm/verification/seaice_obcs/input/mk_input.m

Then maybe in your error message in obcs_check,
you can point users to above file as an example.

I will have a go at modifying
MITgcm/verification/seaice_obcs/input/mk_input.m
since MITgcm/verification/seaice_obcs/results/output.txt
needs to be modified in any case.  Then you can check
in your new obcs_check routine.
