I'll leave that decision to the collective. I'd feel more comfortable if
we had other tests of the scheme before making it more widely available.
You kow how these things come ack to bite us if we don't check them
properly; the earlier Leith is an example...

Dear Alistair, I just had occasion to useSophisticatedLengthScale and it
works great! I have this crazy grid configuration that pans from 1/30th
degree to 4 degrees both in latitude and longitude to focus on Gibraltar
Strait region in a global domain configuration and there's no way in
hell that Leith will work in that grid without your new brilliant
length-scale addition.
Can I go ahead and add the useSophisticatedLengthScale flag to PARAMS.h?
