Jean-Michel thank you for checking and sorry
for wasting your time on this.
I should have looked at GRID.h definitions
before sending previous message.  I mistakenly
assumed from bad memory that dxC was located
at the tracer points (XC,YC) and dxG at (xG,yG)
rather than the U and V points, respectively.

So this does not solve the edge-crash mystery then ...
