They should be different (as you write it) when the 
resolution in X is non-uniform. However, rAz is not
used in many places in the code, except in Vector-Invariant mom.
This might be the reason why this bug "survived" so long
(until you point it).

I will change it and see if it has some impact on
any verification test.
