[MITgcm-devel] pgf compiler fails on forge

Is anyone using the pgf77 compiler on faulks? I think it may be
improperly setup on that machine.

Using both the "old" genmake and the "new" genmake2 build scripts, I get
identical errors of the form:

  /usr/bin/ld: cannot open
  /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/egcs-2.91.66/crtbegin.o:
  No such file or directory

during the link stage (all the *.f files are compiled without any
errors). If you look, you'll see that faulks has gcc libraries at

  /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/

but not at

  /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/egcs-2.91.66/

which the pgf77 compiler tries to use.
