I'm using a coupled configuration of the MITgcm with
aim+ocean+land+THSICE.
Once my simulations are at the equilibrium, I compute the energy
balance at the surface using the diagnostics TFLUX over the
ocean, and landHFlx over land. The global mean budget is well
closed over the ocean but is about ~1W/m² over land. Note that
the flux values over land are an order of magnitude lower than
on ocean.

I'm wondering if anyone
knows why it is not closed over land. Could this be explained by
the fact that some processes are neglected in the land package
(like continental ice or vegetation feedback)?
Thanks!
