<div>It seems that my concerns regarding scaling were exaggerated. If the system scales well to 96 or 128 cores, that is more than enough for me (for starters, I only intend to do very low-resolution runs on a single 8 to 16 core workstation, anyway). Memory bandwidth might be more of an issue, but I'll only find that out if I run my specific case on my specific hardware. So I suppose I'll just get a Xeon E and see how it goes.</div>

<div>The cloud computing option is an interesting one, and one I had already considered. But from my calculations, I'll have to run so many sims (albeit small ones individually) that it is actuallx cheaper to get the hardware myself (since I need a new workstation, anyway).</div>
