[MITgcm-support] diagnostics read and write pickups

Hello All

I am wondering if the diagnostics pickup facility is in use by anyone? i cannot see it being used in any validation experiements. without going into too much detail (as i am trying to use it within a detailed experiment) Ill just say that when i attempt to read a pickup file through setting "diag_pickup_read" in data.diagnostics, there is a seg fault, even if (as far as i can tell) diagnostics pickups have been written.  Im not using MNC.

happy to test it out on a verification experiment instead, but i would like to know first if anyone even thinks it should work!
