hi all
the land package docs are not up to date (i don't think) -- https://mitgcm.readthedocs.io/en/latest/phys_pkgs/land.html -- as they do not discuss evolution of snow thickness, for one.
a reference to Hansen et al, 1983 is given, which has some familiar looking equations. is the ground physics section (section g) a more complete description? even if it is not 100% accurate, it would make the package a bit easier to interpret.
(for context, im trying to gauge how easy it would be to co-opt the land/snow model to calculate ice-sheet surface mass balance.)
thanks!
dan
