[MITgcm-support] Fwd: Divided adjoint

This email prompted a conversation with Matt Mazloff. He suggested that the
options

#define ALLOW_AUTODIFF_WHTAPEIO
#define AUTODIFF_USE_OLDSTORE_3D
#define AUTODIFF_USE_OLDSTORE_2D
#define EXCLUDE_WHIO_GLOBUFF_2D
#define ALLOW_INIT_WHTAPEIO

in AUTODIFF_OPTIONS.h might be conflicting with the divided adjoint.
Turning these options off seems to have solved the problem.

Sorry to spam everyone, but I thought it'd be good to have the answer to
the question in the archives!

Hi everyone,
I have been trying to run the divided adjoint. When I run the non-diva
code, the model runs successfully. For the divided adjoint, the model runs
forward fine and then blows up a few hundred timesteps into running
backwards. The first few sensitivities look sensible. Can anyone suggest
what I might be doing wrong?

My setup is based on the verification experiment tutorial_global_oce_optim,
but has been modified significantly. I am attaching data, packages.conf,
AUTODIFF_OPTIONS.h and ECCO_CPPOPTIONS.h.
