[MITgcm-support] sea ice cap with THSICE

Hi All,

When I institute a sea ice thickness cap in THSICE (data.ice) using
hiMax, the top layer of my ocean becomes very fresh. This happens when I
take an existing pickup file with ice thickness of h (arbitrary value).
Should the model "shave" off all the ice above hiMax? Does it get added
to the ocean? And does the ice model have a parameterization scheme for
injecting brine into the ocean beneath it? For example, very thick sea
ice (maybe 20-30m thick) injects a large amount of brine increasing the
top ocean salinity.

Thanks,

Anthony
