this is an example of generating interpolation weights from CS510 to 1/4-deg lat/lon

once the weight are available, look at bottom of script for an example how to use these weights.
you need to decide how to deal with land points.
you could, for example, remove the land points from XC and YC,
or you can fill them with NaNs,
