[MITgcm-support] Land-Ice model

hi ada

there *is* a land ice model, but it has not in any way been coupled to the
atmosphere model yet. it was designed to study fast flowing ice streams,
ice shelf-ocean interactions, and inverse modeling. The dynamics are
well-developed but the thermodynamics, particularly at the upper surface,
are not. It has only been used for small domains (hundreds of kilometers)
but has parallel/petsc capabilities and should scale to much larger domains.

It has not been adapted for other purposes as you are the first to ask
about it.
