[MITgcm-support] energy conservation

Hi,

I am trying to verify conservation of energy in the MIT GCM, and would like to
confirm that, in the absense of an external heating term, the dynamical core
conserves energy. The reason for this question is I am running essentially the
Held & Saurez 1994 test case, with dynamics and external heating turned off,
and find that the Shapiro filter acts as a lateral diffusion that creats a
nonzero, in fact overwhelmingly large, lateral energy transport. I have copied
my data.shap file below. Note that deltaT=15. and rSphere = 1180.E3.

Thanks,
   Angela
