[MITgcm-support] Magnitude and alignment of ocean current

Dear MITGcm Users,

My apology in posting such novice question here. I'm wondering if MITGCM
can be used to obtain information of both magnitude and direction of ocean
current at particular lat and long. Another alternative is reading them
straight from satellite images, however, most of their resolutions are poor
and the grid size is quite large (5 deg by 5 deg) and spotting them from
images do not seem to be very scientific. If these sort of information are
obtainable within MITGCM, then could you please recommend tutorial problem
specific to this?
