[MITgcm-support] Shapiro Filter UV length scale

Hi Nikole,
The short answer is Shap_uvLength is a switch that determines whether the
area weighted divergence of u,v fields are applied before the
calculation of
wind curvatures (i.e., the second order derivatives of u and v that are
required
for shapiro filter). As far as I can tell these two options don't make
noticeable difference.
Maybe someone else has a better explanation on this?
