Good, glad it worked.  And as Herr Dr. Losch pointed out, you will
probably want to add:

  LIBS="$LIBS -lnetcdff -lnetcdf"

or something similar to your optfile.  Please see the other options
files in:

  MITgcm/tools/build_options

for a number of examples.
