Abbas, for time-interpolation it makes no difference what grid you use.

For spatial interpolation, exf_interp.F assumes that input grid is 
latitude/longitude and that output arrays XG, YG, XC, and YC are assigned 
latitude and longitude coordinates, irrespective of whether the output grid is 
spherical-polar or not.  For example we use exf_interp with cube-sphere grid. 
Interpolation routine exf_interp will not work with Cartesian, i.e., "m" 
coordinates but it would not be very difficult to modify it to do so, if needed.
