[MITgcm-support] Help with CG2D settings

Dimitris,

I am using a rigid lid. Won't setting implicitFreeSurface=.TRUE. 
conflict with the rigid lid?

If using the implicit free surface reduces the CG iteration count as 
much as you say, I might be willing to relax the rigid lid. My 
understanding is that the implicit free surface "deals" with surface 
gravity waves by damping them instead of filtering them. Can I switch 
to an implicit free surface without having to reduce the time step to 
accommodate the surface gravity waves?
