Hi Martin,

Sorry, I did a lousy job of explaining this last night!  Please run:

  export HAVE_SIGREG=false   [anything other than 't' works]
  ...run genmake2...  [eg. "make makefile"]
  rm sigreg.o main.o
  make sigreg.o main.o
  nm sigreg.o  [notice that its been gutted]
  make

and the sigreg bits should disappear.  At least, it works fine on the
machines that I've tested...
