Hi Mike,

Patrick's advice is on-target!

And, in general, its a good idea to create custom optfiles by starting
with one of the many good examples in:

  MITgcm/tools/build_options/*

and then modifying it (as little as possible!) to suit your particular
system.  By starting with an existing optfile that is
"close" (preferably, the same compiler on the same hardware) to what you
want, you are much more likely to get things working with a minimum of
fuss.
