Hi Ed,

I changed the build options file to

FC='/usr/pgi/linux86-64/5.2/bin/pgf77'
DEFINES='-DWORDLENGTH=4'

but now I get the following error:

cat cal_readparms.F | ../tools/set64bitConst.sh |  cpp -DWORDLENGTH=4
-DHAVE_SYSTEM -DHAVE_ETIME -I. > cal_readparms.f
<stdin>:110:32: missing terminating ' character
<stdin>:143:71: missing terminating ' character
make: *** [cal_readparms.f] Error 1

It does not have some clock-related commands for the pgf77 compiler,
could this be related? This is from the beginning of the make:

===  Checking system libraries  ===
   Do we have the system() command using
/usr/pgi/linux86-64/5.2/bin/pgf77...  yes
   Do we have the fdate() command using
/usr/pgi/linux86-64/5.2/bin/pgf77...  no
   Do we have the etime() command using
/usr/pgi/linux86-64/5.2/bin/pgf77... yes Can we call simple C routines
(here, "cloc()") using /usr/pgi/linux86-64/5.2/bin/pgf77...  no
   Can we create NetCDF-enabled binaries... no
