Hi Martin,

Yes, I think thats only a limitation of the mailman/pipermail setup for
viewing the messages through the web.  Two ways around it are:

 1) Go to 
      http://dev.mitgcm.org/pipermail/mitgcm-support/
    and download the *entire* archive in the "mbox" format 
    and then let your local MUA (your "email reader", which 
    ever one you use) take care of sorting out the threads

 2) use our htdig-based search facility:
      http://mitgcm.org/search.html
    to find all the emails that match the pattern you want

And if it helps, I'll run the htdig indexer more than once a week so
that the search info will never be more than a couple of days old.
