[MITgcm-support] 3d tidal simulation

greetings:

i/d like to run a simple 3d simulation (bathymetry idealized via a function definition) with simple tidal forcing.

looking at the examples in verification, i see that exp4 is a simple 3d experiment and tidal_basin_2d has some tidal code in external_forcing.F, which
is not found in the exp4 directory.

so...
how anyone done a sim like this?
should i just kobble together the two above mentioned experiments ? (is that a reasonable approach here?)
