Do you have "bash" installed on that system?  If so, please run:

  bash ../../../tools/genmake2 -mods ../code/  -of
../../../tools/build_options/osf1_alpha_f77

and that should do it.  If bash doesn't work, there is another "fix" but
it involves editing genmake2.  So please try bash first let us know what
happens.
