Patrick and Ed, just so that you don't scratch your heads unnecessarily,
it is likely that output.txt files will have changed for the two adjoint
model experiments under global_ocean.90x40x15 because of changes to
freeze.F (it now affects only surface layer rather than 3-D domain) and
its location (it now precedes rather than follows
external_forcing_surf).
