Jianwu,
Currently there isn't a true tidal submerging and
emerging capability. Jean-Michel Campin (jmc at ocean.mit.edu) has
been doing some very preliminary work in this area (adapting the
lopped cell scheme to make it dynamic), but
that work is still in the very early development and
prototyping stage.

Subject: wetting and drying
Now I am considering to use a model to simulate water flows in a intertidal
area. Tide rises and falls, the land-water boundary is moving, and islands
is submerging and emerging. My question is: can MITgcm deal with such
wetting and drying? Thanks.
