yes that is true and this is (fortunately) the way it is used in the old code:

C       Add short wave solar flux to flux term; remember SWFLUX positive into 
the ocean!
        do k=1,NZ
        gT(:,:,k) = gT(:,:,k) + SWFlux(:,:)*(swfracb(k-1)-swfracb(k))*rdelz(k)
        enddo
