Hi Boyin,

 The test on a separate x86,PIII Coppermine machine using the exact same
executable 
from synoptic2 has run to timestep 80006. It is still running fine.
I need to power down that machine to do something else. 
Its definitely looking like something fishy with the hardware, OS or
low-level
system side of synoptic2.

 Lets talk later.
