[MITgcm-devel] SHELFICEBoundaryLayer ustar calculation with hFacC>1

Hi Martin

At the moment we are using ShelficeBoundaryLayer for the calculation of
melt rates, but are allowing hFacC to be larger than 1.

But we find this allows the factor drKp1 to become negative (line 280 of
shelfice_thermodynamics.F) and velocities from the cell below even when the
top cell is thicker than drF(kTopC).

Is this correct, or was this written with only hFacC(kTopC)<1 in mind? At
the moment we are simply inserting the line

drKp1 = MAX(drKp1, 0.0)

after line 282 (although long term we hope to implement something like what
J-M has suggested, using wet-point averaging to find ustar at the center of
the cell).

Many thanks
Dan
